PAHIATUA NEWS.
(From Oiir Resident Reporter) Friday. The half yearly summoned meeting of Lodge Pahiatua, U.A.O.D was held last evening. There was an excellent attendance of members. One new member was initiated into the order and two were proposed for membership. A letter was received from the Kuahine Lodge. Dannevirke, asking the Pahiatua Lodee to join in with that Lodge, •for the purpuse of forming a labour "bureau for the benefit of brothers of the Druids' Loge. Members present thought the idea an admirable one and decide to accede to the request. Contributions for the evening amounted to £29 4a and disbursements £l7 17s. Officers were nominated as lollovvs: —A.D., Bro. J. Swiggs; V.A.D.. Bro. E. Finch; Treasurer, Bro. J. Trezise; secretary, Bro. J. W. Williams; A.D.B.'s, Bros. M. Mc LeodandS. Coe; A.D.B.'e, Bro*. A. Cos ford and B. Hepburn; 1.G., Bro. McPhail; 0.G., Bro. Wilton. The intonation of officers will take plac'3 on tha 9th, and a social evening will be held at the conclusion of Lodge business. The Boy Scouts will li !d a church parade on Sunday ncx 1 , and will attend'church service in S. Paul's Church.
Mr F. Morns, of Hukanui, has disposed of his Post 0 Office store businaas. Mr iviorris has ben in the busing for about ten ""years, and both he an Mrs Morris will be greatly missed in social Hukanui.
Mr T. Hewat finished the additions to the Library Hall at Mangatainoka vesterday The improvements effected will be of considerable service to the people of Mangatainoka. On Wednesday next the ladies of Mangatainoka will hold a ma?querade ball in aid uf the funds of the ball I am informed that the hall will now hold as many people as our Ijcal theatre. About half of the amount required for the improvement? was subscribed by the residents.
Three thousand pounds of milk delivered to a factory in one milk cart, is no small load, yet this \Vas delivered to the Hukanui creamery last Sunday morning by Mr P. Dougherty. - Mr Dougherty is the largest "one shed" supplier to the Ballance factory, Mr Thos. Avery. the largest'supplfer, delivering milk from two sheds. Mr Avery's supply las now reached over 3,8001bs daily. The racehorse Tyrannic was taken to Feildin? yestesday, where hj« will ompete at the Feilding Jockey Club's meeting. He is looking particularly fit.
