WOOL SALES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 24. The first sale for the present season in Auckland was opened to-day. The market opened briskly in sympathy with the ad\anees at the London, Sydney, Napier, Wellington and Christchurch sales, and growers will have every reason to feel well satisfied at the general run of pricas. Finer wools advanced 1 J.l to 2Jd, as compared with the corresponding sale of last season, and coarser and inferior wools ljd to l£d.
Top prices were obtained by W. Duder, of Maraetai, 14$, d for 14 bales of fine crosbsred, and by James Kennedy, of Futiki, 14Jd for halfbreds. Eight bales of halfbred wool submitted by J. M. Day, of Waiheke, were sold at Is 2Jd, and J. Kennedy got Is 2d for medium crossbreds.
The average prices realised were follows: —Halfbred merinos, 11 Jd to 14 hd; medium crossbreds, 9|d to 14d; coarse crossbreds, 7Jd to BJd; bellies and pieces, 4|d to 9£d.
TIMAKU, November 24. The first wool sale of the season was held here to-day, about fifty Home, American,, Continental, and colonial buyers being present. A total of 5,813 bales was catalogued. There was keen competition, and prices were quite up to the recent Christchurch sale. Very few lots were passed in the early part of the sale. Good quality halfbred sold at lOd to 14Jd, and fine three-quarter bred from 8f d to l4d. Nearly all the wool was noticeable for its good quality.
