IJowling. secretary of the Miners' Federation, in a speech at Newcastle, indicated that the miners will fight the coal vend by means of co-operative collieries. A general strike was nnt aimed at, said Mr B.jwling, but it was in!ended to set up a ccal fair ire in Australia.
TO_CRUSH THE COMBINE. Received November 23, 12.55 a.m. SYDNEY, November 22. The Strike Congress is said to be considering the opening of the mines in the southern and western coal districts, and working such mines in Newcastle as are not within the coal vend, with the obj.ct of crushing the combine. MELBOURNE, November 22. The Steamship Owners' Federation had several conferences in regard to the action to be followed if Mr Bowling's scheme to work the union colliery is put into operation. As soon as the operations commence the owners will be ready with a writ against the Coal Miners.' Federation, charging it with acting in restraint 0 f trade,
