THE ILLINOIS DISASTER, DEMONSTRATIONS' of GRATITUDE. FRESH OUTBREAK OF FIRE. United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph Copyight. Received November 22, 8.25 a.m. LONDON, November 21. Reuter's New York correspondent reports that many touching scenes were witnessed at the pit's mouth when the survivors were beingbrought to the surface, The wife of one of the Italians rescued kissed the rescuer's feet, and then made her children do likewise. There was a thrill of excitement and alarm when, after half the rescues had been effected, a tire in the mine temporarily stopped the work. A score of fresh volunteers descended, and soon extinguished the flames.
