A sensation was caused during an auction sale at Bendigo, Victoria, recently. At the lait meeting of the Masterton Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants a resolution strongly protesting against the cction of the Minister for Railways in respect to lowering the percentage of the first grades of the Second Division on his own initiative, and contrary to the promise given by Sir J. A new paving material, devised by a French engineer, consists of the iron shavings from lathes and similar machines, which are mixed with cement, making a combination which is almost indestructible.
