Y.M.C.A. BOARD MEETING.
Last night, at the Y.M.C.A., the* Board of Management met espacially to discusa the new building scheme, along with the ordinary monthly business, Mr P. L. Holdings; Qccppied the ch.au, The Gen"erai Secretary, in his report, gaVe" the membership as 228—an increase for the month of 25, and representing a" solid financial membership 01 over 200. The average numberattending the strangers' tea and meetings during the month had been 30, whilst the main feature of the | report as the account of the nrmbers' meeting, at which the new building scheme was discussed, and subscrip' tion Jists opened. The young fellows of the ' Association had promised £lO5. Correspondence dealing with the proposed Australasian room in the Sir George William 3 Memorial Building, the central Y.M.C.A, of London, was read, and it was dgcidtc] to accept .Mr looker's off?? cf a lecture on Sir George Williams' Life, /or the purpose of raising money sufficient to guarantee to the National Committee an amount equivalent to Is per member, or £lO in all. The meeting night for the management committee was altered from the first Monday tJ the first Friday in each month. After much discussion it was resolved to allow the members to continue their canvass amongst all
members ol the Association, with 3 view of raising £SOO for a modirt-u scheme, £2OO for gymnasium, £IOO for a billiard table, and £2OO tor slight alterations and to reduce the bank overdraft. This is part of theoriginal and the larger scheme, and as time goes on, and should the work warrant it, the larger scheme will De completed. The Board meet again in a fortnight, to consider ways and inean.3 of raising the money. A vote of thatiUs to the secratary for his effort to rai <e money by his lanteri lecture wis uianrnDinly passed, this having been very successful.
