METEOROLOGICAL.

The following is tfi<? Rey P, c. I Bates' summary and forecast :—Lighti rains have fallen in several parts, j particularly on the higher levels, j with a western aspect. Fogs were reported this morning on the West Coast of the South Island and in the extreme north. The weather has been Generally warm and cloudy, winds northerly and freshening in the South. A gale is. reported this evening at Cape Campbell. The present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere, with northerly winds stronger south of New Plymouth and Napier. Increasing humidity will probably bring more general rain with a fall in the temperature, and a moderate southerly is due about sunset to-morrow.
Mr J. C. Boirlington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Wednesday was 4 points.
