A Press Association message, from Au:kland states that the Auckland University has awarded the following scholarships: Gillies Scholarship, H. C. Johnson, 'Jarterton; Sinclair Scholarship, HiHa Adlington, Auckland; Sir George Grey Scholarship, W. A. Gray, Auckland.
jA pliaun* ceremony took' place during an interval at the Masterton Orchestral Society's concert last night, when the Chairman of the Society, Mr H. Inns, took the opportunity, on nehalf of the members, to present Mr Purcall Wehb, the conductor, with a handsome silver mounted baton, in token of their esteem and appreciation of his services Mr Wenb, in expressing thanks for the thoughtful act, said,he had at all times been ably assisted in carrying out his duties by. the members.
