Mr Fre .'erickgHenne, an old resident of tie Stafford district, Westland, died on Wednesday, after a protracted illness. Another death from consumption occurred at Otaki on Wednesday, the victim being Mrs Chas. P. Cotter. Deceased, who was 35 years of age, leaves a husband and three girls to mourn their loss.

Miss Waters, of Carterton, had the misfortune to meet with a pain fuJ accident in Masterfcon' yesterday afternoon. She was alighting from a vehicle when her foot slipped, and she fell heayily to the ground, sustaining a fractured arm. Medical : assistance was procured, and she is progressing as favourably as can be expected. Mr Robert William Comyns, a i well known Wanganui pressman, died 'on Wednesday, aged 50. The deceased was born in Victoria, and some nineteen years ago he came to Wanganui and filled 'the sub-editor's chair of the "Herald." Subsequently he acted as editor of the "Mercury" at Marton, and after the destruction, by fire, of that he returned to the "Herald," and remained there for some years. He then joined the "Chronicle's" literary staff, of which he was a member till stricken by the serious illness which resulted in his death. He leaves a widow and family of three sons and three daughters. Mr John Outram, who died at Dunedin on Saturday, aged seventy nine years, was a police sergeant there under Mr Sheppherd prior to Mr St. John Branigan's appointment as Commissioner of the Police in August, 1861, when he was transferred to the"gaol, and served under Messrs Monson, St.iddart and Cald well. He was senior warder until he retired on a pension, which he enjoyed for many years, but which was afterwards disall <wed, and was the subject of petitions before the House. Mr Outram was specially placed in charge of the outdoor prisoners cmployel on Bell Hi-I, where ; he suffered an accident that cost him j the sight of one of his eyes. I
