MINIATURE RIFLE RANGES.

At the meeting of the Committee of the Masterton Dis rict High School, as evening, on the question the proposed Mi. iature Kifle Range for the school came up or discussion. The Educati n Board wrote stating that they regretted they could not grant any assistance toward? the construction of a range. They further announced that it would be necessary for the Com nittee to have their approval before undertaking the buil'ing of a range. Mr A. Chapman, one of the range committee, reported that arrangements were completed for a stare to be made with the! construction of the range. Before' commencing the work, however, they would like to know something definite with regard to a title to the site for the range. They were now in communication with the Trust Lands Trust, in re> gard to procuring the strip of land proposed to be used for the site.

The chairman. Mr R. Brown, in referring to the Boards refusal to assist with the cost of a range, said he had noticed that the Board had already donated a sum of £4 lOs towards the Northland school range. This did not seem as if the Board were unwilling to assist. Mr A. H. Vile wrote with regard to the installation of a new travelling target, which rendered shooting accidents impossible where miniature rifle ranges were in use. This was held in abeyance.
