ELLERSLIE NOTES. By Telegraph-*-Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 5. The horses at Ellerslie this morning weie principally confined to spurting and steady racing. Salute galloped seven furlongs on the grass, the last four in 52sec. Winning Post covered three furlongs in the grass in 39sec. Ballyshannon and Maori King went six furlongs in the sand [ in lmin 22s?ec, together. The weather „is now more settled, and promises to be fine for to morrow.

DANNEVIRKE ACCEPTANCES.

Ferrates did a half mile spin in 51 25sec. All Red and Swimming Belt covered aimrle and a half in 2min 38 sec, the top weight finishing well. He has had a very solid preparation since bis arrivall. North ' Kast ran Ove furlongs in lmin H 4-ssec, Downfall a mile in lmin 47i-ec, Aberbrothoek seven furlongs in lmin 34 1-5 .sec, and 'Passion half a mile n 52sec. Tawhaki beat Gipsy Belle over five ifurlongsuuniin lmin 43 ssec. The matter's exhibition was disappointing.

Acceptances for the first day's (handicaps and entries for the Maiden Flat and the Shorts to be run at the iClub's spring meeting on Wednesday and Thursday next, close with the secretary, Mr J. S. Freeman, Dannevirke, at 9.30 o'clock, to night. The telegraph office at Daiuievirke 's closed at 8 o'clock.
