. «• Mr Phil Jacobs, a well known one time athlete, died suddenly on Wed • nesday afternoon in Stratford. Mr E. J. Chilton has been appointed superintendent of the Mastertorr 'Congregational Sunday School, It is reported that Mr J. G. Gow, New Zealand trade representative, iwho was amongst the list of retrenched officers, Has ,had his notice of retirement extended for six ' ?months as from the end of last month. A cable message has been received by the Salvation Army headquarters •announcing the intention of the international official staff in London to transfer "Major" Carpenter, editor of the "War Cry" in Australia, to a position on the editorial staff of the London "War Cry." "Major" Carpenter has been connected with the Melbourne headquarters staff for the past seventeen years, for five years of which he has-been "War Cry." edi- \ tor. He will leave Australia in the • \ middle of December.
