PAHIATUA NEWS.

Tuesday. 1 A well attended meeting of the T?sidents of Pahiatua was held in the Trocadero this afternoon, Mr W. Toaswill presiding, to consider in what form a farewell should be tendered .to Mr Walter Norrell, who is an old and respected citizen, and wl o is about to leave the dis • trict. It was decided that a social should be tendered to Mr Norrell on a suitable and early date, arid subcommittees were appointed to arrange and attend to the necessary details. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltrl,, report on their Pahiatua F.A. sale to-day. as follows:—We had a good yarning of sheep and cattle submitted to a large attendance. All classed of sh'iep met keen competition, and cat.de sold well up to late rates. We quote:—Ewe* and lambs. 17s 6d to 20s 9d; young dry ewes, 15s 2d; fat ewes, 15s Id; hoggets, good, 148 6d to 15s 4d; small hoggets, 9s; 2-year steers, small, £3 Ss fid: fat cows, light, £3 15s to £4, springing dairy cows, £4 7s 6d to £5 10s; cows in calf, £3 10s to £3 16s; cows and calves, £2 18s 6d to £3 4s; forward cows, £2 15s to £3 4s; springing heifers, £4 2s 6d to £4 15s; backwaid heifers in calf, JE3 to £4; empty heifers, £2 14s 6d; bulls, £3 15s to £5 ss. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale in the P.F.A yards yesterday, and report as followsWe had a fair yarding of sheep and a good yarding of young cattle. Very few buyers were operating. and bidding was consequently slow, some of the lines failing to Teach vendors' prices. Wc quote: Mixed hoggets, lis 9d to 13a Id; fat and forward wethers, 16s 3d to 16s 9d; ewes with 100 per cent, lambs, to 18a 2d; empty cows and heifers, to JB3; 15 to 20 months heifers, £2 5s 15 to 18 months steers, £2 8a 61 to £2 12s 6d; 2 to 2\ year steers, £4 ss; bulls, to £4 lis. Owing to next Tuesday being the King's Birthday no sale will be held next week.

Messrs P. E. Uebreceny and Co. have taken over the auctioneering, land, estate ,and general commission agency business form erly carried on by Messrs Mitchell and Co., at Pahiatua The new firm will conduct sales at their Mart every Saturday and clearing sales will be held throughout the district, as occasion requires. Produce of all kinds will be purchased, and advances made on all goods sent in for absolute sale. The firm have a business announcement on page 8 of this issue.
