"A FIGHT .TO A FINISH."
United Press Association—Eleotrio Telegraph Copyright. Received October 25, 10.20 p.m. SYDNEY, October 25. Clifton Colliery has been idle for some time owing to miners refusing to work while two men who refused to pay lines inflicted by the Miners' Union for an alleged breacti of the rules were retained.
Summonses were issued against 17 employees on a charge of absenting themselves from employment without leave.
The first case-opened to-day, and was adjourned, Counsel for the defence stated: —"We have exhausted all hope of a settlement. It must now be a fight to a finish. It is reported that the strikers are relying on promises of financial support from other colliery districts. Wider complications are not improbable.
