MR JOHN FOSTER FRASER.
Mr John Foster Fraser, the latest of the long line of celebrities introduced to Australia' and New Zealand by Mr R. S, Smythe, the much travelled, or his energetic son, Mr Carlyls Smythe, has proved a big success. Mr Frasei has caught on everywhere immediately,, says a contemporary. It used to be said of Madame de Staal that,, wherever she went, she was preceded by her fame and followed by her cook. Mr Foster Fraser was preceded by his eight books, and followed by a huge success. People have been saying oE late years that the days of lecturing were done; that the public lecturer was dead and eone. Mr Foster Fraser has risen up to deny the allegation. Th-ise who have seen the multitude crowd into the spacious halls where he has lectured nig.nt after night, and. rush to matinees as well, know that the lecture is still able to fascinate the people when it is in the hands of the right man. Mr Foster Fraser has shown himself to be that man Mr Fraser's subjects are popular and varied. They are subjects in which everybody is interested,, and about which everyone wants to know something —or more than thsy already known. And, then, the screen pictures are fine and realistic. Mr Fraser'will give his first lecture on "Across Siberia and a Dash through ManchuriH," «t the Town Hall, Masterton, on Wednesday next, and on the) following evening the subject will be the humorous and graphic story "America Up-to-date.'" The lectures are profusely illustrated with one hundred fascinating views. The box plan will be opened at Miss A» E. Rive's* Queen Street, on Monday morning next, at 9 o'clock. Mr Fraser is due to lecture at Hastings on Friday. 29th ■
