A NO-LICENSE MEETING.

By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 22. The Town Hall was packed to-night when a public meeting was held by the No-License party. "On the platorm were ministers of various denominations, Mr R. A. Wright M.P., and the Chinese Con-sul-General. Mr Wesley Spragg, President of the New Zealand Alliance, was in the chair. The Hon. A. T. Ngatasent a letter regretting that he could not attecd, as he desired to show his interest in the movement, especially in relation to his own race. The proceedings were enthusiastic throughout, and the following resoJutions w<?re carried:—That the time has now come when the question of the licensing polls should be decided by the bare majority vote, and urges on the Government and Parliament a respectful demand fur immediate legislation to secure this reform; this meeting strongly supports the demand of the No-License party or legislation to provide for taking a Dominion option poll triennially on the Licensing question, in addition to the Local Option Poll, and urges the Government and Parliament ..to give immediate effect to these demands; theis meeting expresses deep indignation at the violation of solemn promise given to the natives by the Government that no liquor licenses should ever be granted in the King County, and calls upon repressntatives of every section of Christian Church, Press editors and members of Parliament to whom the welfare of the Maori race and the honour of the nation is dear to urge the Government to at once introduce legislation ! to annul the licenses granted and to remedy this"evil."
