iFrom Our Resident Reporter) Tuesday. The secretary informs me that the daily milk supply at the Mangatainoka Cheese Factory has now Teached 2,000 gallons. Another mectinc: in connection with the proposed additions to the Mangatainoka Library Hall will be held on Saturday week evening. The committee set up by the Pahiatua-Akitio A. and P. Association, to canvass the town for donations to the prize fund report having made good progress. A reminder is given farmers and stock dealers of the first- annual spring cattle fair, which is to be held by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Dalgety and C 0.,. Ltd., at Messrs Abraham and Williams' vards in the Mangahao road, at I p.m... tomorrow. The employees of Messrs J. W. Sturton and Co. made a presentation to Miss Olive Reeves, who has been in the firm's employ in the office for the past 14 months, and who has resigned. Mr J. Baylis made the presentation—a silver-mounted .ebony brush and comb —in a fi-:w well-chosun remarks, to which Miss JJeeves briefly responded. Miss Reeves left for Whangarei by the first train North this morning. The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Tennia Club is to. be held on the 29th inst. A genera! meeting of the Mangatainoka Athletic Society will be , held on Saturday evening, when the programme drawn up will be submitted for approval. It the afternoon is suitable on Thursday next the older hoys of the Pahiatua ©istrict High School will have a shooting practice at the rifit butts., STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their weekly sale held in tne P.F.A. yard»jto day as follows:—No sheep came forward owing to the threatening morning, but. there was a good yarding of cattle, which sold well up on .late market rates. Prices ranged as follows:—Good dairy cows, £6 5s to £7 15s, other sorts £3 10s t:>/£5; good dairy heifers, £4 10s i> £5 10b, others £2 10s to £3 10s; 2-year steers. £4 5s to £4 10s; yearling , steers, £2 10s: empty htjifais, £2 6s to £3; store cows, JE2 15s to £3 10s; bulls, £2 to £2 10s. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their P.F.A. sale, of to-day as follows.:—We offered a good yarding of both sheep and cattle to a moderate attendance. Sheep in sympathy wath late reported advance in mutton and lamb showed a decided ..advance on recent values, The cattle entry comprised mostly dairy stock, all of which sold well up to recent values, good springing heifers sell ing particularly well. S.m. ewes 'and 100 per cent, lambs, 18s 3d; mixed sexed hoggets, lis 6d, 12a 6d to 13s 6d.; cull mixed sexed hoggets, 6s 9d; empty ewes, 12s; 2-too,th wethers, 15s; 3 year steers, £4 10s to £4 13s; springing heifers, £5 5s to £6 15b, others £3 12s 6d to £4. 15s; cows to milk, £7 and £7 2s 6d; empty 2-year heifeis, £2 14s; fac caws, £4 10a to £5; yearling heifers, £2 2s; empty store cows, 35a to £2 17s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Pahiatua Farmers' Yards, when they offere 1 a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which were all well competed for.
