THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
Having secured a lengthly lease of the Foresters' Hall, the well known theatrical entrepeneurs, Messrs Thompson and Payne, intend re-open-ing it as a popular place of amusement with their biograph entertainments. Referring to an entertainment in the North, a contemporary says:—The art of making living pictures has been brought to such a high degree of perfection during the last year or two that is hard to say much more in their favour than that they are one of the most popular forms of entertainment at the present day. Living pictures would not be in such demand were they slovenly depicted with a bad machine, but when in the hand of a first class operator—one who understands the business in every small detail—the entertainment takes to itself a> sparkle that is foreign to other shows. The gentleman in charge of the projection apparatus with this company undoubtedly understands his business, the pictures shine forth clearly, and are particularly free from that objectionable flicker so often noticeable." Messrs Thompson and Payne have an efficient staff of workmen engaged preparing the Hall and making the necessary alterations for the production of the best poasible results. Tae announlament giving the date of the opening performance will appear later in the advertising columns.
