Thursday. PAHIATUA GUN CLUB. The annual meeting of the Pahia« tua Gun Club was held in Mr M. Quirke's rooms, last evening, Mr L. Feist presiding. The balance sheet presented showed the Club to have assets over liabilities of £24. Five "shoots" were held during the past year, including an open match on November 9th, 1908, at which £25 was given in prize money. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr W. H. Hawkins; President, Mr J. Breeds (re-elected); Vice-Presidents, Father McKenna, Messrs G. Harold, Smith, E. J. Hughe3, A. Barrell., J. Spiilane, S. V. Rodney and W. Garlick, senior; Management Committee, Messrs W. W. McCardle, L. Feist, J. Tanner, M. Quirke, G. Oxley, H. Sherwood and G. Gleeson; handioappers, Messrs Quirke, Tanner and Oxley; Auditors, Messrs Feist and GleesDn; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr G. Oxley (re-elected). . With a view of obtaining members the Club have devised a scheme, whereby the shooting in the future will be less expensive to the members. Mr Sherwood offered to supply the v Club V'ith live sparrows for . shooting matches, and this matter will probably be taken up, members • generally considering the idea a good one. A hearty vote of thinks was accorded to Mr G. Oxley for the use of his ground during the past year, and also to Mrs Oxley for her kindness in supplying afternoon tea. A vote of thanksto Mr M. Quirke for the use of his room terminated the meeting. PAHIATUA HOSPITAL TRUSTEES. The monthly meeting of the Pahiatua Hospital Trustees was held this afternoon. There were presentsMessrs J. D. Wilson (chairman), G. A. Burgess, 11. Eames, G. Godfrey Taylor, S.' Bolto", G. HawleyDrew and Dr. Dawson. During the month twelve patients had been admitted, and eleven discharged, 'at present there are ten patients in the institution. One patient died during the month. j The Secretary of Court Pahiatua, j A.0.F., wrote asking on what terms j the Trustees would grant a free bed for use of Court Pahiatua for one year. After discussion it was decided to offer the free use of one bed for a > year for £lO. j The doctor's report stated that everything was satisfactory at the hospital, and he had received no com--4 v plaints. The Visiting Committee reported having visited theinstitution twice since the last meeting, and found everything in good order. Mr J. D. Wilson donated £1 Is to the hospital funds and was accorded a vote of thanks. Accounts amounting to £ll3 17s 3d were passed for payment. GENERAL. The membership of the PahiatuaAkitio A. and P. Association is now 260. With this number of members the initial show in February next should be a success. A meeting of the Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce will be held in the Secretary's office on Friday evening. The members of the Executive of the Pahiatua Central Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union will meet in ,the Commercial Hotel on Saturday afternoon. . At Wbariti, Wnodville, this morn? ing, Mr P. Brightwell had the misfortune to break one of his legs whilst bushfelling* The injured man was brought to the Pahiatua Hospital. To-morrow (Friday) is the Ballance Dairy Company's pay day.
