ANNUAL SOCIAL.
The first annual social of the XO.G.T. Lodge, held in the Forestern' Hall, last evening, was a.decided success, fiom every point of , view. For some time past energetic committees oif ladies and,, roen.had been wording hard to ensure-the suc- " cess of the function, and the result of their efforts should be pleasing to them. There was a large attendance, and those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Rev. C. E. Porter occupied the cbair. During the evening interestin? addresses were given by the 'Chairman, and Mr J. Heyhoe; aonga were tendered by Miss Jones, Messrs Greenwood (encored) and Mannell; recitations by Miss Allsworth, Messrs Kemp (encored) and D. B. Thomson; a dialogue by Misses Gourlay, Pembefatid MdKenzie. and a pianoforte so'lo by Mr Mead. An excellent supper was provided toy the ladies' commHtee, who are deserving of a; special word of praise for their work in connection with the social. An enjoyable avening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem, ,
