CRICKET.
The Wairarapa Cricket Association championship matches will not start until Saturday, 23rd inst., instead of Saturday next, i6th inst., as previously arranged. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Cricket Association is to be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday next, to make arrangements to secure another wicket for the junior matches, rendered necessary by the increased number of teams entered for this competition. A match was played yesterday between teams representing S. Matthew's Club and Mt. Bruce Club. The cricket was of a very poor classs. Mt. Bruce made 29 in their first innin~s (E. Johansan 8 being top scorer). Berry took 6 wickets for 10, Wilkie 3 for 13 and Sutton 1 for 1. Principally owing to bad judgment in utilising the bowling Mt. Bruce scored 60 in the second innings. L. Matthews hit vigorously for 42, Alf. Reader playing a careful innings for 12. Phillips took 5 wicktts for 16, Sutton 3 lor 5, Berry 2 for 3. Kerr 0 for 4, Wilkie 0 fo 5, Boyd 0 for 6, Dixon 0 for 7, Croudis 0 for 10. S. Matthew's put up 54 in their first innings (Berry 18, Sutton 13, Cole 12). T. Petersen well, taking 8 wickets fo 27. *Lr Matthews took one wicket for 2, Alb. Reader 1 for 10, and Alf. Reader 0 for 12. St. Matthew's hit up 38 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the second innings (Wilkie 13, Sutton 11), thus winning by six wickets. L.Matthews took 2 wickets for 10 runs, Petersen 2 fo 16, and Alb. Reader 0 for 13.
