OPAKI-LANSDOWNE WATER SCHEME.

ENGINEER'S REPORT. At the mating of }he MasteftOit 'County Council, yesterday afternoon, Mr Laing-Meason reported on the Opaki-Lanadowne waterworks as follows:—Contract No. I.—The work is nearly completed, and the contractor has promised to push on withojt further delay.

Contract No. 2. —Messrs Burke and Buckley ba\e now laid all the mains and house services, except connecting up the rising main and clean water feed pipe at the power house. The reservuir, power house and feed pits are all finished, and the contractors will have- completed the whole of their contract before ths next meeting of the Council. The specified test has been made of nearly all the pipes with satisfactory results. Contract No. 3.—Messrs Andrews and Hayes have very satisfactorily completed their fencing contract.

, Rams arid fittings.—The hydraulic rama and fittings arrived lasc week, and are now on the site of the works. The mechanical engineer engaged to fit up the irams will commence the, work at once. I anticipate the whole of the machinery will be in position in a week or ten days. After the concrete round the hold-down bolts, etc, must be given three weeks to thoroughly set when the rams will be ready for use. —Adopted.
