CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Saturday. There was a representative gathering of settlers in the Fire Brigade Hall last evening, when the mem: bers of the Taratahi-Carterton Racing Ciub and Wairarapa P. and A. Society welcomed Mr G. W. Deller home. A number of toasts were honoured, and a musical programme, interspersed the speeches. Mr Petersen presided at the piano. Mr Yung Liang Hwang, Chinese Consul, who is to deliver a lecture in the Methodist Church on Monday evening, will be the guest of Mr G. A. Fairbrother, during his stay here. The mild weather that is being experienced here is having a good efftct as regards farming. It is expected that there will be a plentiful supply of fruit this season.
