TURF NOTES.
(By Zetland.") The nominations recieved for the Masterton meeting are decidedly satisfactory in all respects. With 238 for fifteen events there is an average of nearly sixteen throughout, an ! quality is exceptionally well repre-
sented. The meeting should be one of the most successful held or sume j ears. Sandix, who was sore a fortnight ago, is being hacked about the roads, and will be ready for track work again soon. He is nominated for the Masterton meeting, but on account of his recent spell may not be able to show his best form. Gselic showed something like his racing form last week, when he wou the principal event at the Marlborough meeting. He is nominated in hurdle races at the Masterton meteing. Sir Frisco is nominated for the Masterton Cup. He la expected to compete at the Otaki meeting this week, and at Trentham the following week. Mahuta, who has not raced in this district for over two year?, is among the nominators for the Masterton Cup. He is doing good tract work just now, so is likely to be among the starters on the day. The Tauherenikau newly laid out course is looking well just now. Tie track has been fenced around with a new fence painted white, and the grass recently sown is coming on very well. The Porirua stable, presided over by J. H. Prosser, will be repressnted at thu Masterton meeting by Jbady Medallist, Te Kahurangi, Kina, Laius, Lace Collar and Taitoku. J. W. Lowe's Trentham stable will send Magneto, Sir Frisco, Iranui, Soprano, Sea Queen, and Advantage. Full Rate, who has not sported Bilk for some months, will be seen out at the meeting. He is now being trained by R. Knox. San Julie, who broke down at FeiLiing last year, ia also expected to be"among the contestants. Laius, who is entered for the Hack eventp, is a full brother to Tusiut, who he resembles in colour and general conformation, although he is somewhat thicker set. The New Cup horses en- ' te -ed at the Masterton meeting ara California and Merrivonia.
