"AN ENGLISHMAN'S HOME." On Wednesday next, October 13th, Masterton theatregoers will have an opportunity of witnessing, at the Town Hall, whai has been described as the most remarkable play of the age. No matter what particular shade of political opinion is held, every newspaper joined in the chorus of praise lavished on the play—its import, its dramatic qualifications, and the lesson that it drove home so insistedty and well, The "Daily Chronicle," a Home Liberal organ, speaks of the unprecedented sensation combined of amazement and bewildered delight and approval it created." The "Star" awards it "the fascination thftt only a strong, simple, and live work of art possesses. The "Evening News" says that it would not be easy to exaggerate the tempestuous manner j with which it gripped the interest of the audience,*or the extraordinary enthusiasm of its reception. The "Morning Post" calls it an honour to our stage—on a level to which no other play produced in recent years can aspire. Mr Edwin Gaach, having made special arrangements with Mr J. C Williamson, will present the above play with a company of English artists, specially selected to fill each individual part to perfection. The box plan is open at Miss Rive's, whwre seats canbe secured in advance.
"A BACHELOR'S HONEYMOON." Mr Hugh J Ward's Comedy- Company have arranged to visit Masterton for one night, in the Town Hall on Tuesday, October 19th. The new farcical comedy "A Bachelor's Honeymoon," will serve to reintroduce to New Zealand playgoers such old favourites as Mr Hugh Ward, Miss Grace Palotta, Miss Hose 1 Musgrove, Miss Celia Ghiloni, and several other well-known performers The vocal and dancing items which are introduced considerably enhance the production Other members of the company include Mr ReginalJ Wykeham, a fine actor; Mr Arthur Eldred, recently of Sir John Hare's Company; Mr Kobert Greig, a late prominent member of the "Squaw Man" Company; and Mr H. H. Wallace, who was one of J. C. , Williamson's leading comedians. ' Miss Ruby .Baxter and Miss Florence liedfern soon win popularity by their charm and talent, therefore with such stroi:e support it is not to be wondered at that Mr Ward's latest production has everywhere met with such wonderful success. The box plan will open at Miss Rive's next Thursday morning.
