METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON. October 7 The following is the Kev. D. G. Bates' summary and forecast : Moderate to strong southerly windshave prevailed north of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong and squally westerlies elsewhere. The barometer has risen steadily in the North, but only slowly in the Sou*;h. The weather has nuen unsettled on the West Coast ot the South l'sland, and in the extreme South, but fair mostly elsewhere. The present indications are for freshening northerly winds soon over the North Island, and strong westerlies elsewhere, with a falling barometer shortly everywhere. Warm and humid conditions will probably prevail, with rain in parts, especially on the western and southern districts.
