STOCK MARKET.
The New Zeaiand Loan and Metcantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows on their annual Spring Catile Sale at Masterton yesterday : —•We had a full yarding in cattle, upwards of 600 head appealing, which embraced every class. Bullocks were the feature of the sale. Bidding un3er the hammer was anything bjt brisk, although the stock was of good quality throughout., the principal business being done privately at the close of the day. A clearance was made with the exception of the principal line of grown steers. The results were disappointing to vendors, and the reserves generally were too high. We quote:—Grown steers ijj to £5 17s 6d; 2\ year steers, £4 10 £4 ss; 18 months to 2year steers, 70s; yearling steers, good quality, £2 10s to £2 12s 6d; mixed yearlii.gs, 40s; forward cows, 63 to 7s; forward heifers, 2 to 3 years, 5s to 6s; light beef cows, £3 15s to £4; prime fat wethers Is 6d; weaner pigs, 10a to 14s. Messrs Dalgety ami Co , Ltd., report having held their spring cattle .sale at their Waipoua yards (Masterton yesterday, when they offered a real good yarding of cattle. There was a good representation of buyers from all over the district, and bidding throughout was spirited. The entry came forward weil over advertised numbers, and we had practically a total clearance. We quote: —Sheep: Ewes in lambs, lis Id; fat wethers 15s; fat ewes, lis 6d, 12s to 145.. Cattle: Four-yoar steers, £5 15s; 3-year steers, £0 3s; backward 3-year steers, £4 15s; 2-year teers, £3 17s; 2|-year steers, £4 6s; 18-month steer?, £2 14s to £2 17s; fat 3-year steers, £6 6s; forward 3-year steers, £"> 2s; springing heifers, £3 7s, £1 lis to £4 16s; empty heifers, £3 5s to £4 63.
