LONDON WOOL SALES.
j CLOSED AT FULL RATES. LONDON, October 1. The wool sales closed firm at full rates. Tha Kototahi clip realised 9|d per lb; ana "Kapai" 15§d. Received October 3, 5,5 p.m. LONDON, October 2. ) At the wool sales there were catalogued 101,500 bales. The number sold was as follows: —To Home buyers 60,000 bales, to Continental | buyers 32,000 bales, to United - dtates buyers 6,000 bale 3. The number held over was 3,500. Compared with the July sales good to medum greasy merinos were 10 per cent, higher; best scoured 10 per cent ; faulty, 15 per cent.; best crossbreds, shabbier top-making sorts and slipes, 10 to 15 per cent higher; medium fjlipes showing the greatest advance of all. Yorkshire buyers throughout bought all classes eagerly. The Germans, were keen on merinos; anl United States bought largely of best crossbreds. The Gear clip realised IOJd.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S report: Tiie Department ol Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated' London, October 2nd:—"Wool sales closed. Animated competition maintained throughout. Stock is 3ir.all, trade is good, and likely to continue so. Manufacturers in want of supplies. Americans have given i extrefrie prices for suitable lots, chiefly light condition crossbred. Prospects are favourable. Estimated value: Superior.merino, la ljd to Is 3£dperlb; medium, lljd to Is Id; inferior, 9d to lid; fine crossbredg, all grades, is 2d to Is 4£d; medium do., lid to Is 3d; coarse do., 9d to Is."
Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cable message from their London Hcuse, under date Ist inst."Wool sales closed firm. Super merino wools 10 per cent higher; other descriptions of merinoa 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, highei-, crossbred wools, fine quality, 10 per cent, higher; and crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality, 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, higher, as compared with closing rates of last series. The total quantity amounted to (including 1,000 bales not offered in July series), of which 6,000 bale& were sold in America, 56,000 hales for Home consumption, and 32,000 bales to the Continent, leaving 4.000 bales to be carried forward to the November series." Levin and Co. have received advice that the Loudoti wool sales closed at 2J per cent, advance on the opening rates for merino, and 5 per cent, advance on crossbred.
