It may not be generally Known that the greatest candlemaking establishment in the world is in England. It is that o£ Price's Patjsnt Caxdle Company, Ltd.! with two other largo factories, one at Battersea on the Thames, and the other on the Mersey, next Birkenhead, covering together thirty acres, and giving employment to about 2,200 people. The leading position held by the company is shown not merely by their having received (he larga number of eighty-six awards at the principal International Exhibitions daring tka past half century, but especially by tha unique fact that five of these are Grand Prix gained in the greatest candle producing countries or the European continent —nam3ly, in Antwerp in 1894, Amsterdim. in 189(5, Brussels in 1897, and Paris in 1899 and 1900.
