OPENING OF THE SEASON AT BLAIRLOGIE.

The opening of the cricket season was celebrated at Blairlogie junction on Saturday by the playing of a friendly match between the Cars - well's Club and the Uniteds (Master ton). The game was naturally not a very brilliant exposition of cricket, being as it was the first opportunity foi' players of either Club to commence the season's operations. The match ended in a win for Uniteds by a small margin. Two innings' were played, Mr R. Liverton acting as captain for the Carsweil Club and Mr A. J. Congdon (in the absence of Mr A. H Rothen berg, club captain) for the Uniteds The game was extremely interesting, and proved rather exciting, only the small margin of two wickets separating the two teams at the, conclusion.

The local team entertained the visitors in lavish style during: the progress of the match, the local hostelry being improvised for the occasion. Host Greenhank and Mrs Greenbank provided lunch, afternoon tea and dinner for the two teamu, and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks by the United team.
