CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Castlepoint County Council was held on Saturday. There were present—Crs Speedy (chairman), J. S. Langdon, R. L. Langdon, Richardson, Innes and Mason. The Northern Land League wrote in reference to the question of reformin the administration of Native lands. The request contained in the letter was agreed to. Mr A. A. Cameron wrote applyin? for permission to make a cutting off the road at Manukaroa. The request was granted. A letter was received frcm Mr J. Schofield, asking for permission to erect a letter box on the road at his place. The request was granted. Tuts Hutt River Boatd wrote askng for co-operation in the proposed arrienr merits to the River Boards Act, and that the member for the district be asked to support the pro • posed amendments from his seat in the House. A requisition was received from thirty-four ratepayers, praying that the system oflrating be altered, and that a vote of the ratepayers be laken to alter same. Jt was decided that action be taken to comply with the prayer of the petition. Crs R. Langdon and Mason were appointed to sign the Rate Books The Road Overseer's report was read and adopted. The clerk was directed to apply to the Akitio County Council for a donation towards the upkeep of the road from Pakowai to the Coast and to Tenui. The Treasurer submitted a financial report showing a debit balance of £512 8s 2d, and a credit on loan account of £IOO. The following amounts, amounting to J77 9s 6d, were examined and 1 passed for payment.
