MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL

The usual monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held on Saturday, September 25th. There were present —Crs C. Churchjj], Jackson, 0. laakson, C. Forsi berg, J. E. Ferry, and H. J. Dagg In the absence of the County chairman, who attended after the meeting began, Cr Forsberg was voted to the chair. Correspondence was dealt with ±rom the sacretary of the New Zealand Counties' Association, re appointing a delegate to attend Ihe conference should such be convened during the approaching session of Parliament. Cr Kummer was appointed. Mr L. H. Crookenden wrote asking that metal repairs be done on Mount Munro Road East. It was decided that Cr Isakson get the necessary repairs effected as soon as the l weather is suitable or such work. The Receiver of Land Revenue forwarded schedule of hypothecated thirds. The Northern Land League wrote requesting support in its efforts to ' effect improvements in dealing with This letter was received. The Minister of Public Works acknowledged the receipt of a copy of ; the Mauriceville County By-law, 1909 . Cr Dagg referred to the unsatisfactory state of Mangaoronga Road, but consideration of the matter was left over till the next meeting. Mr Lauritz Larsen's resignation of the position of Ranger, was accepted, and it was resolved to appoint Mr T. Palmer as a Ranger. In view of the serious damage that may accrue to the Mangamahoe Road by traffic from Mr J. Anderson's sawmilj, it was resolved that the services of a competent person be obtained who with the chairman and Crs Dagg and Perry, shall inspect the road. The clerk was instructed to notify the manager of Carroll's lime kiln to immediately effect repairs to the read, or ic will be done and the cost charged to the owners of the kiln. Accounts amounting to £76 7s 3d were passed for payment.
