CYCLING.

A ROAD RACE. (By Telegraph—Special to the Age). NELSON, September 29. A cycle road race from Nelson to Belgrove and back (fifty miles' to select representatives for the Timaru tc Christchurch road race, took place to day in unfavourable weather conditions, rain falling throughout the journey, making the roads slippery. Seventeen started, the winner being L. Franklyn, whose actual riding time was two hours 56 minutes. A. Stewart was second (2 hours 57 minutes 18 seconds;; W. Jack third (3 hours 16 minutes 49 seconds. Six riders finished, franklyn and Stewart will be sent to Christchurch.
