HOME-COMING OF THE PREMIER.
By Telegr ph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 28. Preparations for the civic welcome to the Prime Minister on his return , from the Imperial Defence Conference are being actively forwarded, and a detailed programme has been arranged by the reception committee. H.M.S. Challenger, with the Prime Minister aboard, will arrive in Auckland at 1 p.m. on Thursday, and the landing will probably take place at 3 o'clock. In the military parade from the mano' war steps, nine hundred cadets and five hundred volunteers are ex pected to take part. The veterans under Captain Archer, will form a guard of hunour at the landing stage. Several bands will be in attendance. Sir Joseph, on arrival at the man-o'-war steps, will be received by the Mayor (Mr C. D. Gray), and Chairman of the Harbour Board (the Hon. E. Mitchelaon). There will bo a large gathering of Parliamentarians. The business people have been invited to observe a half holiday.
