The British Commissioner tor the Western Pacific (Sir Everard im Ilium) does mt favour the subsidising of private enterprise for providing wireltsa installations in the Pacific. He is inclined to recommend the Bf'tisn Government to take up the proposal a 9 a State concern. The Commonwealth Government is understood to share this view A plan has been drafted for providing stations without the assistance of installations on foreign soil. Under the proposals the stations -would be Southport (Queensland), Port Morasby (New Guinea), the Solomons, Ocean Island (Hawaii), Tonga, Kara tonga, and Doubtless Bay (New Zealand.
