In the semi-final in the Victoria League football premiership com • petitions, played between Carlton and Essendon, the former won by 14 goals 8 behinds to 9 goals 2 behinds. There were 40,000 spectators, and the takings amounted to £1,300. The second semi-final in the Association competition, played between Essendon and Footscray, was won by Essendon, by 11 goals 13 behinds to 5 goals 7 behinds.
