FOUND DEAD.

By Telegraph—-Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 22. An inquest was held to-day re the death of William John Venables, who was founi dead in his room at a boarding-house in Manchester street yesterday. Alfred Wilson, a fellow lodger, said that he was with Venables between nine and ten o'clock on Monday night. He appeared t-3 be suffer ing severely from the effects of drink, and smelt of methylated spirits. On Tuesday at four o'clock he went to call Venables, and found his body on the floor. An empty bottle that had contained methylated spirits was lying alongside the body. A verdict of death from syncope was returned.
