(From Oar Resident Reporter). Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Cricket Club will be held in Mr East's tea room 3, on Thursday evening. •ihe Pahiatua Licensing Committee meet in Woodviile on Thursday. It is stated that a visit of i:isp2c tion has been paid to the Woodvilla copper mine by a gentleman, on be ■ half of a wealthy Australian syndicate, with a view of purchasing it. The Makuri-Poiigaroa Dairy Company commence operations at Pongaroa and Waimiro to-morrow. A big reason is anticipated. The Konini football social will - taka place in the Konini Hall on October 6 th. At the local Court, this morning, before Messrs D. Crewe and J. Hujhes, J.P.'s, two young men named George Bowden and John Hislop, were charged with the theft of a bundle of towels from the Commercial Hotel. Bowden was fined 40s or in default 21 days' imprisonment, and the charge against Hislop was dismissed. A clmge of vagrancy against both was dismissed. STOCK MARKET. Messrs Dalgety ar.d Co., Ltd., report on their Pahiatua sale today as follows:—We had a moderate entry of stock. Prices were about up to recent quotations. Hoggets to 9s lid; store ewes to 8s 3d. Cattle: Backward heifers in calf 15s; springing cows, good, to £6 19s; 3|-year steers to £5 7s 6d; yearling steers, 30s. Our next sale will be held on 28th at our our Mangahao yard 3. . The New Zealand Loan and Merra.iitle Agency Co., Ltd., report on t.ieir Pahiatua sale in the farmers' yards as follows:—There was a good attendance of buyers and farmers, and stock came forward up to advertised numbers. Sheep were re'presanted by wethers only, and sold up tol3ssd. Cattle were represented in all clashes and conditions, and sold at late market rates. Yearlings, mixed sexes, to 35s fid; yearling steers, 40s; yearling heifer 3, 395; empty heifers, 45s to 555; dairy heifers, 70s to lOua; dairy cows, lu2s 6d to 1255; 3 year steers, £5 ss; bulls at market rates; horses at market rates. Mesjrs Abraham and Williams, T-td., report as follows on their sale to-day:—There was a good yarding of sheep and cattle, and a good enquiry for both, especially hoggets. young steers and dairy stock. We quote:—Store wethers, 13s; f.m. ewes in lamb, 10s 3d; fair hoggets, 9a 6d to 10s; small, 6s 9d; dairy cows, 90s to 100s; springing* heifers, 90s to 1159; backward heifers, 81s to 87s 6d; 18 months steers 665; draught horses on account A.
