CARTERTON NEWS.

(From Our Resident iteporter). Monday. A number of lads attending the Clareville Maori College were confirmed this afternoon at St. Mark's Church, the ceremony being performed by the Bishop of Wellington. A fine of £1 was this morning imposed upon a young man, arrested on Saturday evening for drunkenness. The amount of milk being, received at the Belvedere Dairy Factory is 1,250 gallons, and at the Taratahi factory 1,300 gallons. The cow testing association recently formed in Carterton commenced operations at Dalefield to-day, Mr W. M. Singleton, of the Dairy Department, being in the district for the purpose, If the operations .of the Association prove successful, they will be extended to the neighbouring districts. Donations of 10s from Mr M. T. West, and 10s 6d from Mr -W. Knowles, are acknowledged by the Dalefield Football Club. It is stated here that the building until recently used as the Cimenathan Nursing Home has been leased for a Catholic Convent. The Wairarapa P. and A. Society have decided to remove from their present High Street pffices., to the shop in Mr Dudson's building, formerly occupied by Mr Imrie as a tailor's establishment. It will enable the Society to hold *its committee meetings in the premises *
