DOMINION PICTURES.
A SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAIN' MENT.
A large attendance greeted the picture entertainment in the Town Hall last evening, presented by the Dominion Picture Syndicate, which has lately purchased the entire plant of the ever popular TaylorCarrington Company. That the new proprietors intend to uphold the reputation of their predecessors in the matter of catering for the public in a thoroughly up-to«date and enterprising manner was fully demonstrated by the class and variety of the films, displayed last evening. There was not a dull picture in the whole list, and at the conclusion of every representation the audience showed their appreciation in a manner did not leave in do«bt for one moment what their opinion was. A strong feature of the entertainment was'the manipulation of the machine, the judgment shown in speed regulation being particularly clever, while the sound effects were introduced in a most realistic and artistic manner. It may be said at the outset that the humorous pictures were a strong point in last night' programme, the diverting nature of these studies being very refreshing. Notably among these were ''The Lost Dog," "Cohen at Coney Island," "At Home Day," and "Weary Willie at the Carnival." The films fairly bristle with amusing situations, that keep the audience in roars of laughter. "The Flower Girl of Paris" was a splendid dramatic film that evoked hearty applause. Lovers of films of travel found in "A Journey through Central Africa" and "Scenes in Russia" two pictures to suit their taste. The Masterton season will be brought to a close to-night, when the management announce tnat an entirely new programme will be presented.
