Speaking on the subject of defence the Federal Minister for Defence x Hon. J. Cook) said the first answer to the question in Australia must be sought in the cradles, and the next in a constant stream of overseas immigration. Mr Cook hopes that the financial arrangement with the States will furnish enough to meet the expenses of defence without further taxation.
