BREACH OF THE GAMING ACT.
A FINE IMPOSED.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCIIURCH, Sept. 7. Matthew F. Barnett, proprietor of the newspaper "Daylight,"' was today finer] £2O and costs by Mr Hasel don, S.M., for publishing betting news on horse races to be run in New Zealand. The charge was laid under section 31 of the Gaming Act, and Barnett conducted his own defence.
