The following are the averages of the Rival Cricket Club for the season 1908-09: — BATTING. —J. Waters 22.61; T. Dywer 12.00; G. Thynne 10.66; J. Lomas 10.00; F. Wickens 8.40; S. Edwards 6.77; S. Kinguon 6.12; G. Barr 5 50; A. Thompson 4.66; J. Morris 4.50; J. Gray 4 16; J. Wickens 2.83. BOWLING.—S. Kingdon 4.75; S. Edwards 8.00; J. Gray 9.33; A. Thomposn 9.66; J. Waters 10.10; J. Morris 10.36; G. Barr 14.33; T. Dwyur 33.00. Mr J. Waters wins the battiner average. Mr Edwards secures the bowliing average, although Mr Kingdbn heads the list, but he has not bowled the required number of overs entitling him "to win. The trophy given for the most improved player was won by a promising young player, Mr Barr. The Club owes in a great measure its success to the following officers who kindly donated trophies and subscriptions:— Messrs A. W. Hogg £1 Is; J. L. Murray £1 Is; A. C. Major £1 Is; Rev. A. T. Thompson, trophy; Mr A. Henderson, trophy; Mr A. Chapman, trophy. The prospects for the coming season are very bright, and keen interest is being taken by the members in the affairs of the club for the forthcoming season.
