Terrible scenes are being witnessed at Monterey, where many lives were lost in the recent great floods. One thousand bodies h*ve been recovered, some of them from the branches of trees and roofs of houses. The Rio Grande Valley is under water. The flood is nearly a hundred miles broad. Several towns in Texas are flooded. The San Juan River is twenty miles wide where it joins the Kio Grande.
