THE Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1909. TONIGHT'S MEETING.

I We are pleased to be able to announce this morning that the Mayor of Master ton has convened a meeting in the Dominion Hall for this evening of citizens interested in the movement to secure, if possible, the establishment of the new Meat Company's works at the Waingawa. Time presses, and every nerve should be strained to create interest in the project so that a large number ot shares may be subscribed within the next few days. If there is a good attendance at the meeting a number of shares should be subscribed in the room. Action of the ki.id suggested would have a stimulating effect on the community as a whole and would greatly assist the work of a canvassing committee. Everything practically depends upon the sujces9 of the meeting to-night. The petition presented tor.the Mayor, requesting His Worship to convene the meeting, was largely signed by the leading business men of the town, and it is to be hoped that they will be present in force at to-night's proceedings. The Chairmanship is in able hands and His Worship will no doubt enlarge upon the advantages that would arise through the establishment of freezing works at the Waingawa site. In a few days we shall see to what extent the movement has been successful, but nothing less than success can be achi.vdd if the necessary work and enthusiasm ia brought to bear. The local branch of a certain institution has shown this to"'n. and the sam 3 institution has shown other towns, what success may be achieved by a properly organised, whole-hearted and enthusiastic effort to gain support. Of course it maybe that "failure" will have to be writ large across the whole movement, but wnether this may be so, or not, we trust that the citizens of Masterton will have no point in which to reproach themselves in the matter of endeavouring to seize the seemingly great opportunity to advance the prosperity of the town by leap 3 and bounds. <
