The return match between the Australian cricketers and the Marylebone Club was resumed this morn-

ing, in unsettled weather, and with a poor attendance. The wicket was fast.

Tarrant and Foster, the not out men. continued the M.C.C. second innings. They commenced steadily, and carried the total to 157 before a separation was effected, Macartney dismissing Foster by a brilliant catch at long on. The retiring player had batted 145 minutes, displays

fine all-round cricket. He hit a fiver and seven fourera. Hardstaff succeeded, both batsmen showed steady defensive play, and were s till together at the luncheon adjournment. Tarrant was 115 minutes compiling 50 runs. Rain set in during the adjournment, and prevented further play, the match thus ending in a draw. Scores:— AUSTRALIA. First Innings 434 MARYLEBONE CLUB.
