MOROCCAN HORRORS.
A CRUEL SULTAN. DEALING WITH A RIVAL. Received September 1. 8.15 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, Augupt 31. The Sultan of Morocco, Mulai Hafid, whose cruelties recently drew a protest from the British Consul at Fez, has, with a view to compelling the pretender, Bu Hamara (Omar Zavahuni), who was captured a short time ago, to hand over any moneys of his on deposit in foreign banks, proposes to place him in a wooden shirt, studded with nails inside, in order to extort a confession. Bu Hamara was captured, after being in a more or less active state of rebellion since October, 1902 He was carried into Fez in an iron cage strapped on the back of a camel, the sight attracting the attention of large crowds, who loudly jeered him as he passed along. In return, the prisoner boldly flung insults at tha assembed populace.
