NEW ZEALAND LADIES' TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph—Special to Age). NAPIER, August 28. The New Zealand Ladies' Championship Hockey Tourament was continued on the Recreation Ground this afternoon. A rather strong and cold wind was blowing, which interfered to some extent with good play. Following are the results: — WAIRARAPA A (1) v. WANGANUI (1). Wairarapa pressed at the start, and in les? than two minutes Miss Z. Humphries shot a goal. Several other attempts narrowly missed the net, Wairarapa having all the best of the play in this spell. In the second spell Wanganui, with the wind in'their favour, swooped'down on the Wairarapa circle, and after some loose play Miss Powell shot a goal for Wanganui. making the score even. Give and take plav followed until the call of time, Wairarapa having slightly the be3t of the exchanges, but no further score was recorded, the game ending in a draw. HAWKE'S BAY B (2) v. WAIRARAPA B (1), Hawke's Bay had generally the bast of a rather uninteresting game, in which neither side showed as good form as in some of their previous matches. No'score took place in the first spell, but in the second k*>l 1 ' Misses Cogswell and E. Thompson for Hawke's Bav, and Miss Dalrymple for Wairarapa shot goals. Wellington beat Horowhenua by 1 goal to nil; Auckland beat Nelson by 3 to 1; and Hawke's Bay beat Taranaki by 2 to nil. As Wellington was unable to meet Hawke's bay A on Monday owing to some of the players having left, a meeting of the visiting teams was held on Saturday evening, and it was decided to cancel Monday's fixtures as Hawke's Bay A being unbeaten, their claim to the Championship could not be disputed. Hawke's Bay A therefore, with 8 wins and no losses, wins the Championship for the second year in succession; Auckland, with 7 wins and 1 loss, comes second; Nelson, 5 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, third; Taranaki, 5 wins, 3 losses, fourth; Hawke's Bay B, 4 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw, fifth; Wairarapa A, with 3 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws, sixth; Wellington, 3 wins and 5 losses, seventh; Horowhenua, 1 win, 6 losses and 1 draw, next; While Wanganui, with 6 losses and 2 draws, and Wairarapa B with 7 losses and 1 draw, are at the bottom oi the list.
