MASTERTON MOUNTED RIFLES.
SIXTH ANNUAL BALL,
Both the Drill and Town Halls were beautifully decorated last night when the Mounted Rifle Volunteers gave their sixth annual ball. The Drill Hall presented a truly martial aspect, decorated as it was with flags, terns and foliage, and it is doubtful whether its spacious interior has ever looked so pleasingly attractive. Fully 130: couples occupied the floor, and the blending various uniforms of the officers, who were present from all parts of the Wairarapa and Wellington, and the volunteers and the beautiful dresses worn by the ladies made the scene a brilliant one. The duties of M's.C. were in the capable hands of Sergeants Barnes, S, Schofield, Williams, and Troopers M. Iggulcien, A. Iggulden and Messenger. The stage of the Town Hall was used for the supper, *ai.d the tables which were arranged to ascotnmodate over IQO couple 3 were decorated with „ .quantities of spring V bulns.
Much of the success of the ball is due to the secretaries Trcnpars E. Burrows and D. Walsh, and they were ably assisted by a band of willilg workers, tha ladies' committee consisting of Mesdames J. Fuller (President), C. Ashton, Dr. Cook, E. Dixon, G. Y. Dennis, A. J. Gildings, J. Whittaker, Welch, and Misses R, Cameron, M. Harris, E. Jggulden, F. Monk, McKillop, SimrnonGS.
The floor which was in.particularly good order was prepared under tha very capable supervision of Quartermaster-Sergeant A. 0. Levien.
Very excellent music w js supplied by Reiiiai.a orchestra.
