STOCK MARKET.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report on their fortnightly stock saje yesterday as fallows:—Our entries in sheep were confined to fat .store wethers and hoggets, the class in each case being good. We were enabled to make a clearance. The tone of the market was not brisk, in cattle the entries were mostly dairy stook, and empty heifers, the quality all through was only medium, and prices made were accordingly low. Best fat wetheis made !lss6d, stores 13s, hoggets 10s, ciiil'ls 7s 6d. Cows near profit £4 to £5, heifers £3, empty heifers £2 15s to £3, good calves 255. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltdi, report having held their usual fortnightly sale at their Masterton yards yesterday. A good yarding of sheep and fail yarding of cattle came forward. Sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers, and some really good lines of wethers and hoggets were offered. Bidding was not animated, but a fair demand at -about late rates was experienced for dry sheep. Ewes in lamb were not sought after, principally owing to the tact that the class of sheep offered was inferior. Wethers and hoggets found ready buyers, and in such sheep we have to report a total clearance. We quote as follows: Two and 4-tooth wethers from 12s 9d to 14s; fat wethers from 14s 6d to 15s 9d; empty ewes, inferior, 7s 5d to 8s sd; hoggets, good. 10s 3d to lis 3d, inferior, 5s Id to 6s; broken-mouth ewes in lamb, 7s. Cattle. The yarding was not heavy, but for all lines offered a good demand was experienced:—Fat cows, £5 5s to £5 18s; forward cows, £3 15s to £4.
